Help in the Library - Children's Programs

Dear Library and Literature Lovers:

The Library is looking for two or three volunteers for the Junior Great Books Story Time Program at the Bandon Public Library.

Volunteers facilitate story time for 4th through 6th grade students -  Thursday afternoons, 3:30 to 4:30 P.M. throughout the school year. Facilitators help students read and practice Socratic style discussion of short stories in the Junior Great Books anthology series—vocabulary and discussion guides included. (Visit greatbooks.org.)

It's a lot like a book club—with colored pencils and no homework. Students take turns reading aloud during story time. We also enjoy art projects, reader's theater, music and culinary explorations. Volunteers can anticipate facilitating one session per month.
